Head of House Manager

We are seeking a Head House Manager to join our Issaquah Front of House team! If you have a passion for musical theatre and want to work in a fun environment, this may be the job for you. Our position is available for immediate hiring!

Position Overview:
The Head House Manager position is part of the Audience Services Department and is responsible for insuring exceptional customer service and the safety of Village Theatre’s audiences. The Head House Manager will manage all logistics of front-of-house staffing, including scheduling and supervising House Managers, Lobby Attendants, and Volunteer Ushers, while also working some shifts each week as the House Manager. They are also responsible for the safety policies regarding the audiences, and should stay up to date on regulations and requirements regarding ADA and safety. This position is part-time (averaging 20hours a week), hourly, has a flexible schedule, and requires frequent work on nights and weekends.


(Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Personnel/Staffing
  • Schedules House Management, Lobby Attendant, and ushers for all Village Theatre Issaquah events, including Mainstage, KIDSTAGE, Village Originals and rentals.
  • Maintains Volunteer Usher contact information in database.
  • Communicates Usher procedures to Volunteers and ensures that all Ushers maintain high levels of quality and attentiveness.
  • Coordinates and executes Usher training sessions to ensure consistency and understanding.
  • Disseminates information about Village Theatre and its programs and policies to Front of House Staff and Volunteers.
  • Maintains frequent contact with Stage Management and Box Office Staff to coordinate timing and anticipate possible problems.
  • Ensures that all Front of House Staff thoroughly clean and maintain lobby and concessions areas, equipment and supplies are returned to correct locations, and inventory is tracked and restocked.
  • Patron Services
  • Represents and maintains Village Theatre’s image as the first point of contact for all our patrons. Assists with patron relations and resolves complex patron inquiries and complaints.
  • Provides a safe, secure, and enjoyable experience for customers, and handles issues that may disrupt that. Reports status of resolved issues and information on problems that need further attention.
  • Ensures that the lobby is presentable to patrons, including adjusting informational signage, checking that lobby display headshots are accurate, and maintaining acceptable appearance of the facilities.
  • Ensures safety of the public in emergency situations; coordinates emergency procedures with Stage Manager.
  • Maintains a safe, clean and attractive environment both inside and outside the theatre; facilitates Assistants and Lobby Attendants in maintaining same at both facilities.

House Manager Responsibilities:

  • Confirms that all public areas (lobby and restrooms) are clean and ready for the public.
  • Supervises concessions and merchandise sales including inventory management, cash handling, and deposits reports.
  • Supervises and coordinates all audience safety matters, including fire and medical, crowd control, and other emergencies with public safety agencies such as EMS, Fire and Police.
  • Receives training in CPR, First Aid and Active Shooter Response.
  • Checks out hearing devices, braille programs, and other accessible materials to patrons.
  • Monitors audience for cameras and other recording devices during performances.
  • Identifies cleaning and maintenance needs and handles as required; reports tasks that need further efforts to Facilities Manager
  • Completes Daily House Reports and Ticket Reports. Distributes as directed.
  • Places orders for concessions stand and researches best and most cost-effective options
  • Track concessions inventory.
  • Maintains a professional appearance in dress and attitude

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience and capability to train and manage staff.
  • Commitment to superior customer service with strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong customer service skills with a focus on professionalism and friendly interaction with audience members
  • Management history with a comfort in holding employees and volunteers to a high standard of professionalism
  • Solid interpersonal, motivational, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Comfort with problem-solving and handling possible emergency situations
  • Passion for and understanding of theatre a must
  • Computer literate; knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with database systems preferred.

Education and/or Equivalent Experience Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required.

Work Experience:

  • 2+ years strong customer service management experience required
  • House Management or Front-of-House experience preferred

Lobby Attendants

We are seeking Lobby Attendants to join our Issaquah Front of House Team!
This position includes mostly , evening, and weekend work.

Position Overview:
The lobby attendant is responsible for assisting the house manager and patrons during performance. He/she oversees the lobby’s cleanliness as well the general safety of the environment. , Must be friendly, prompt and reliable, Responsible for concessions and donor parking as well as assisting the house manager in emergency situations.

(Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions**):

  • Assist house manager in getting ready for performance.
  • Maintain an engaging and welcoming atmosphere
  • Delivers programs form storage for ushers and house manager.
  • Prepare, monitor and replenish concessions.
  • Sell concessions and merchandise to patrons before the show and during intermission.
  • Ensure that the lobby is clean and complies with visual standards
  • Assist house manager in donor parking. Place signs in parking lot and remove after show have begun.
  • Remain in lobby to answer questions and oversee concessions.
  • Count concessions money and prepare nightly deposit per instructions.
  • In the case of an emergency, assist house manager in any way necessary.

  • Assist the Marketing Department with marquee updates
  • Assist house manager in resolving seating issues when they arise

Telesales Team Member

The Village Theatre is hiring for its telephone fundraising and subscription campaign. Join a wonderful and successful campaign as we market fundraising opportunities and season tickets. This is a great position for an experienced caller or someone interested in getting their foot in the door at a non-profit or arts organization. Pay is $12/hr + generous bonuses. Top callers make $20+/hr. We work from the Francis J. Gaudette Theatre, evenings from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., 20 hours a week.

Audience Services Representative - Issaquah

Job Summary:
As part of the Issaquah Village Theatre Box Office, the Audience Services Representative must have good communication skills with a positive, friendly, and outgoing personality. Must be prompt, reliable, and detail oriented. The position is hourly with an average of 20 hours a week. Flexibility in work times is a must, including days, nights and weekends.


  • Handle large volume of in-bounds sales, exchanges and inquires with the highest level of courtesy and professionalism.
  • Sell new and renewing subscriptions, single tickets, gift certificates, and memberships.
  • Provide helpful information for performances, pricing options, parking, directions, local restaurants and seating for patrons with disabilities.
  • Assist with patron relations and resolve complex patron inquiries and complaints by phone.
  • Maintain familiarity with subscription and single ticket marketing initiatives, patron loyalty program, donor benefits, Village Theatre events and website.
  • Provides concierge services before performances and during intermissions to warmly greet and engage patrons and get them excited about our productions, as well as provide normal Box Office services.
  • Cover Box Office duties at First Stage performances, both for KIDSTAGE and Village Original productions.
  • Attend all Main Stage productions preferably during the Friends and Family preview or opening week.
  • Guide patrons though their online interactions.
  • Keep up a professional appearance in dress and attitude, and have a general appreciation for and understanding of live theatre.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Commitment to superior customer service with strong problem solving skills. Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Must be self motivated, detail oriented and able to juggle several tasks while answering phone calls.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a small office
  • Ability to adjust priorities and assignments to meet patron and company needs
  • Comfortable and familiar with computers and most basic software, and capable of learning new ticketing and CRM systems quickly. Previous ticketing experience is helpful.

Job Summary: Village Theatre is looking for a friendly, reliable, detail-oriented person to work in the Everett Box Office. Job is part time up to 20hrs/week. Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed. EEO


Sell tickets and provide accurate records of sales and deposits while maintaining a positive image of Village Theatre. Work as a team within the Box Office and within the entire organization to provide superior service for Village Theatre patrons and to support each department.


  • Provide excellent customer service and accurate information to all patrons and visitors in a friendly manner.
  • Handle customer complaints or refer them to appropriate personnel.
  • Understand and operate Theatre Manager ticketing software to sell tickets, make exchanges, and access and update customer information.
  • Take and process single and season ticket orders for all Village Theatre events, as well as rental events at the Everett Performing Arts Center, and record the desired marketing and mailing information.
  • Accurately handle purchases and redemptions of gift certificates.
  • Keep complete and accurate hard copies of season ticket information.
  • Assist the Box Office Manager and Assistant Box Office Manager in the preparation and mailing of season tickets.
  • During subscription season, file subscription forms daily and ensure that all filed forms have been processed.
  • Count and balance checks, cash, and credit cards at the close of each day. Run End of Day reports.
  • Ensure that till(s) have been counted and initialed as counted at the close of each business day.
  • Keep the Box Office secure at all times and allow only authorized personnel in the Box Office.
  • Prepare House Manager Report immediately following the start of each performance.
  • Perform other duties as required by Box Office Manager, Assistant Box Office Manager, or General Manager.

KIDSTAGE Internship programs support the development of outstanding theatre professionals by providing a structured program of training, coursework, and extensive progressive in-class and hands-on learning experiences. Designed to prepare students for careers in theatre arts, internships translate the KIDSTAGE philosophy of “Skills for Theatre … Skills for Life” into classroom technique.

Internship programs are available in Issaquah and Everett Washington and include:
